Emma Myers, Psychology
Faculty: Terisa Gabrielsen
Emma is a second year doctoral graduate student in Brigham Young University's Counseling Psychology program. She earned a BS in Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. She is passionate about the interplay between physiology and psychology, particularly how these two interact along with our genetics and life experiences to create neurodiversity in all of its beautiful forms. Down the road, with the training she receives from URLEND, Emma aims to help couples navigate neurodiversity, especially as it relates to sexual development and intimacy. She would like to have a counseling practice, teach and continue conducting research in this area.
Emma grew up just north of Chicago, IL and loved spending summers with her family on Lake Michigan. She was a competitive swimmer growing up who promptly fell in love with the mountains, and all mountain sports, when she moved to Utah for college. You can find Emma skiing the Wasatch front in the Winter, and climbing and trail running in the canyons all spring, summer and fall with her husband. If she's not on an adventure in the mountains with friends, she is studying, shooting a roll of film, listening to a therapy podcast / audiobook, working on a creative project, or exploring a new place. She has been fortunate enough to live in Argentina, England and Israel and is always eager to learn from people of diverse backgrounds and experience their culture and way of life.
Emma believes we can be most beneficial to our families, neighbors, and communities by first seeking to understand and then serving, which excites her about the mission of the URLEND program.
