Loren Nelson, Audiology

Loren is a 4th year doctor of audiology student at the University of Utah. She is completing her yearlong externship with Primary Children’s Hospital before graduation in May 2025. Loren grew up in Las Vegas, NV. She moved to Utah in 2017 to complete her Bachelor of Sciences in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Utah. Her clinical interests include electrophysiology, amplification devices, and ototoxicity. She has been involved in research throughout her education, examining the effects of auditory distraction and related listening fatigue. Most recently, she has been involved in clinical research projects evaluating the effects of ototoxicity in pediatric patients with cystic fibrosis and listening fatigue in nontraditional cochlear implant candidates. She has published and presented her research in various journals and at professional conferences.
One of her goals for URLEND and her career includes having the education and skill set to diagnose and manage hearing loss for children with additional diagnoses who may require nontraditional testing and intervention methods.
