Samantha Christensen, Healthcare Administration

Faculty: Terry Pavia

Samantha started working in healthcare as an EMT in 2018. When COVID started, she was recruited to work on the administrative side for the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, which drove her strong motivation for understanding and improving the overall patient experience. Working with vulnerable populations at the bedside also helped her grow her curiosity in understanding the patient as a whole and helped her gain a deep understanding of the complexities involved in coordinating individualized care. She is passionate about healthcare access and is curious about the policies and factors that impact an individual's ability to access care.

Samantha looks forward to completing the URLEND training program to gather a deeper understanding of how administrators can provide better care for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. As a future healthcare leader, she finds it critical to understand the areas of care that her hospital provides, and she is confident that putting herself on the front lines through clinical opportunities will give her irreplaceable experience and knowledge.

Samantha has a strong pediatric focus and is planning to apply for jobs at Seattle Children's post-MHA. She looks forward to returning to the patient-facing side of healthcare and devoting her career to serving children and their families throughout her career.

Samantha's hobbies include road biking, rock climbing, and skiing.
