Emmie Gardner, Social Work

Faculty: Laura Curtis

Emmie Gardner is a clinical social worker by training whose career spanned 30 plus years at Primary Children’s Hospital in various clinical and administrative roles in both mental health and cancer care services. She is a passionate pediatric advocate and during her tenure at the hospital also had opportunity to rotate through several of the clinics serving special needs kids and their families.

As a proud Mex-italian, Emmie is also passionate about helping our immigrant community here in Utah and is able to engage in this daily through her current role as CEO of Holy Cross Ministries (HCM). Their Niños Especiales Familias Fuertes (NEFF) cohort has been supporting Latine’ families with special needs kiddos for 15+ years. Attending URLEND, Emmie hopes to explore how HCM might expand their services in this area.

When Emmie isn’t busy at work, she enjoys cooking and listening to music as her hubby plays DJ. They also enjoy traveling and sailing when they can work it in to their schedules. Emmie and her husband are proud parents of 2 amazing adult daughters who have launched and now live and work in the Pacific Northwest. And they are truly enjoying their new role as grandparents -doing their part to spoil their 2 ½ year old granddaughter.
